School-based virtual health by Comanche County Medical Center’s Health on Campus Program provides a convenient solution for parents to have their sick children evaluated by a healthcare provider without leaving school. This streamlined process, facilitated by the school nurse or school staff member, ensures a fast and easy connection to a CCMC provider through virtual conferencing.
How Does It Work?
- Parental Consent: With the parent’s permission, a student can be virtually evaluated by a CCMC provider.
- Virtual Conference: The school nurse facilitates the connection between the student and the CCMC provider, incorporating input from the participating parent/legal guardian during the visit.
- Assessment and Technology Support: The provider conducts a thorough assessment with the school nurse’s assistance, utilizing technology-based clinical equipment as needed.
- Follow-up Care: After the evaluation, the provider provides instructions for follow-up care and can submit a prescription to the parent’s preferred pharmacy, including delivery options.
- Record Keeping: A record of the visit is stored in CCMC’s medical records for future reference. Copies can be sent to the primary care physician upon request.
- Return to School Note: If necessary, a return to school note is sent to the school, ensuring proper communication and coordination.
- Patient Access: Parents/guardians have access to all treatment information through the patient portal and by being present during the virtual visit.
